Operation: "Plump Up the Wheez Man"

Bad news....

the Cam man has croup. He woke up the other night wheezing and coughing like a barking seal. I took him to Scottish Rites Children`s Hospital. Camden loved the hospital! He just sat in his little room where he watched Toy Story 2 in his big comfy hospital bed. He was so cute! They had him in a little baby hospital gown that tied at the back with little space rockets printed all over it. They gave him a little baby hospital bracelet around his ankle and when it was time to go he got a vanilla flavored pacifier. He was a trooper! He flirted with all the nurses and one in particular kept shooing away the other nurses saying, "stay away from my boyfriend!" It was not so bad for a 3:00am Dr.`s visit. He is doing much better now. However, the next Doctor`s visit was not so pleasant for me...

We went to his pediatrician`s office today for his 9 month check up. We did not get to see his regular Dr. we had to see someone else we did not know. She kept asking me questions like "Is he using a sippy cup?" which I reply, "No....?" "Oh" she says, "well ...is he walking?" "Um... no!" Suddenly I felt like one of those mothers listening to another mom talking about their child prodigy. "Well, baby Charles has just been excepted into preschool law and he and his sippy cup are walking into classes at just 6 months!" Blah! Come on Doc lay another one on me I`m not quite feeling like an antiquate mother yet. "Well..." she said. "He is 25% in weight for babies his age." Oh..there it is I feel complete thank you doc! So my child is sick and starving! Well you know what he may not be drinking out of a sippy cup but you should see the distance he can throw it. From his highchair clear across the kitchen I tell you! My kid has an arm on him! And he may not be walking but he looks awfully cute crawling around this office wiggling his little bottom around!

After our very informative Dr.`s visit I immediately took action! Operation:" Plump up the Wheez man" had begun! I met mom at Sweet Tomato for lunch. I normally put a bib on him and try and keep the mess to a minimum. I know when I go out and see other peoples kids making a mess I automatically think "how rude to make such a mess in public that somebody else has to pick up!" Well...I put all those feelings aside today. I let him go to town! Every food off the buffet that was safe for a baby was chopped up and spread out in front of him. He was eating like a king! I could tell my mom was a bit disturbed by my lack of effort to keep things clean but in my mindset my child was undernourished and it was my fault! So ...eat King eat! You have to be strong so you can walk to your next Dr.`s appointment and throw your sippy cup across the room at Dr. Wound-a-mom!

  1. WOW! What a rude doctor! Hopefully you won't have to see them again! Have fun helping your little man chunk up! And if not, he's perfect just the way he is too! :)
